Delightful

Delightful is a browser extension and plugin for Obsidian that celebrates with a delightful animation when you complete a task. Started in 2022 for project management tools, then ported to Obsidian in 2026.

   1. The delightful idea

      We were having a delightful time on Monday mornings, but a bug in the system took our delights away. As a developer, I fixed the problem by creating my own delights to replace the ones that died.

   2. Building Delightful for Obsidian

      A whole new scaffolding was built, to convert plain JavaScript into TypeScript with a modular JSX style, because it's more inline with how plugins are commonly built for Obsidian, but mostly because things have changed.

   3. Where to from here for Delightful?

      I'm not interested in growing the user base. Delightful is just a fun thing I made for my team at the time, and I still use it and keep it updated for anyone who wants to use it.

      A collection of intentionally amateur-looking promo images and videos for Delightful that I've put on LinkedIn over the years. Also on Twitter in the early times, when that was still hanging on by a thread as a worthy product.
